This weekend, the husband was looking at his vision board and pointed to a picture of the Eiffel Tower. Husband (with much conviction): I am going here! TL#1: Oh, you're going to Paris, France. Mommy has been there . Husband: Yes, I am. Then the husband went downstairs. While in the room, TL#1 and I read a story about teamwork from the 7 Habits of Happy Kids book. After we finished the story, we decided to go down... TL#1 (very puzzled when he saw the husband): Daddy, you're here?! Husband (looking up nonchalantly from his iPad): Yes. TL#1: Huh, I thought you went to Paris. Why are you here?!? Harharhar! Speaking of vision board, I would want to make my own, too. It has been a while since I set goals for myself. It's Friday and my son bid me farewell today with this: Me: Bye baby. Mommy is going now. TL#1: Where are you going again mommy? Me: To work. TL#1: Why don't you work fast mommy? I'll give you my power of speed so you can work fast! He must really want me to come home early. At times like this, I feel a compelling need to find an 8 to 5 work. But is that the solution? When I was younger, before I became a teenager, I always looked forward to my Mama and Papa coming home from work. I like it more when they have pasubong but I was mostly content to have them home. Ah, the security of being with your parents! Then I became a teenager (with a boyfriend) and didn't care much anymore. We're capping off the long holiday weekend (and TL#1's 4th birthday) here in Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL), one of our little family's favorite places to hang-out. It's pretty cozy and mostly quiet and there is free wi-fi for Swirl Rewards Card members. Hubby is a big coffee lover. I am not but I like their lasagna. TL#1 loves being treated like a big boy with a slice of cake and cream-based drink. Our TL#2 is yet to join us in this kind of weekend bonding. Maybe a year more and we can already drag him along, most probably with a book or an ipad in tow, too, to keep them from running around the place and disturbing the peace. I love the sun, sand and sea and how those elements fuel my imagination. My fondest memories of summer are those spent in a beach in La Union with relatives. A few grade school summers were spent frolicking under the sun, almost drowning from the huge waves, and running freely barefoot in the sand. I love those carefree times! Sometimes, i wish i were a child again, picking sea shells by the seashore, unmindful of the time or the sun burning my already bronze skin, and dreaming, dreaming of the good things to come. The beach is still my dream destination. I can't swim but i love sitting on the sand, reading a good book or hanging out quietly with a loved-one, lulled with serenity by the rhythm of the waves and disposed to quiet reflection. Sunsets are the most amazing thing! Looking at their splendor makes one realize that there really is a powerful God who made things so beautiful and wonderful.
