takaw-lechon

Image
Yesterday, we had an early dinner in the office courtesy of those who got promoted ( ahem ). We ordered yummy lechon from Elar's. 15 kilos of roasted pig was gone in approximately 30 minutes! Gutom lang? We did not even have the chance to take a picture of the whole lechon. The 4th picture shows what was left of the kawawang baboy. 😋 We also had soupy sinigang sa miso and sweet leche flan, thanks to our in-house caterer - ECG. Happiness! 👍 ________ 15k lechon approximately P6,500 + P500 for the chopper *photo courtesy of Elar's facebook page - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Delays and excuses and a happiness project

Mid-April and I have not started my happiness project yet. My excuse of course is the busy season at work from late November to April 15 - the deadline of tax returns. Surely, there'll be spillovers until end of April. And then there are the fiscal year-enders. Before I know it, it's the beginning of another season. :) I'll never run out of the it's-my-work excuse! So I've got to start some time or never, which should not be an option. To get me going, i am posting my initial timeline for the project here: April: Preparation Clean up loose ends at work Slack off and get more sleep Rejuvenate - I deserve a few days off doing nothing - looking forward to my one day getaway with the girlfriends Start a daily beauty regimen :D I've got to maximize the "investment" I made today at House of Obagi (lesson learned: keep the credit card under lock and key during the busy season) May: Positive energy Finish reading (and apply) How to Simplify Your Life - I had...

countdown 10: mindfulness

For a while, after giving birth to my son, I felt a sudden loss of my penchant for drama, a noticeable sense of emotional stability. In other words, I was steady and contented. And I often wondered what was wrong with me. Maybe I was so used to the roller coaster of emotions when the center of my world was just me that it felt weird to suddenly feel grounded. It used to be normal for me to complicate things, to inject drama to every aspect of my life, to be so conscious of what others will think or say about me. It could be that age and motherhood helped me become more matured and overcome such instability. Just some musings from a soon-to-be 30. While waiting for my turn to the Ears, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor, I was reading an article in the August issue of Women's Health regarding Mindfulness being the new Happiness . A foreigner happened to sit beside me and noticed the iPad and what I was reading. He struck a conversation regarding happiness. He says there's this guy wh...

countdown 28: living my life

Image
"Life would be so great if I could just win the lotto! " I think I wasted too much energy of late from wishing I would suddenly become a millionaire. This wishful thinking made me realize that I am getting a little desperate and that contrary to what I should be doing, I am not taking complete rein over the destiny of my life. Did I allow myself to get so absorbed in my career that I got burnt out beyond recognition? Did I overindulge myself that I turned from being a workaholic to a lazy and challenge-averse adult? Did I allow failures and disappointments to disenchant me from living a charmed life? What I know for sure is that I need to focus on the things that make me feel excited, fulfilled, empowered and just a bit scared. Because isn't that what life should be about? Your mission in life is not to be without problems. Your mission is to get excited. Lately, I found myself dreaming again and making plans - not those will-o'-the-wisp kind but tangible dreams and g...
