What You'll Find In Abundance At Crossword Bebop
On the sidebar, near the top, there is a list of ten tags under the heading "Frequently Considered Topics." These tags are the most frequently used tags at Crossword Bebop. The purpose of this post is to give a slightly more detailed description of the significance of these tags.
crossword - Posts with this tag refer specifically to the New York Times Crossword between October 2005 and the present. Most of the posts are for the Sunday crossword, but some of the earliest posts are for the daily crosswords.
vocabulary - Posts with this tag refer to vocabulary words where the pronunciation and definition of a word is given, with at least one example. There is also sometimes an exploration of the differing context in which the word should be used.
Clip of the Day - Posts with this tag refer to music, frequently from the bebop era, but also from other periods as well. I am working on making audio available for each of these posts.
Set Daily Puzzle - Posts with this tag refer to attempts to become skillful at the deceptively simple Set Daily Puzzle, and the weekly competition between a team of me and some of my friends, and a team of Debra Hamel and some of her friends. This weekly competition took place in mid-2006.
Ultimate Coffeehouse Crossword Challenge - Posts with this tag refer to a contest sponsored by Starbucks Coffee and the New York Times, offering free coffee for life (or the cash equivalent) for the winner. This contest took place in early 2006.
Flying Imams - Posts with this tag refer to the six individuals who were removed from US Airways Flight 300, before it took off from Minneapolis to Phoenix on November 21, 2006. The posts are also covering the Federal lawsuit the six individuals filed, which will go to trial in June 2009.
Crossword Blogs - Posts with this tag contains brief descriptions of the blogs listed in the "Crossword Blogs and Sites" blogroll, and their authors.
Canadiana Crossword - Posts with this tag refer specifically to the Canadiana Crossword, a crossword with abundant Canadian references. These posts appear from June 2007 to the present.
Acrostic - Posts with this tag refer specifically to the Acrostic puzzles which appear every two weeks in the Sunday New York Times Magazine, usually composed by Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon. Posts about the Acrostic started appearing almost regularly in the fall of 2007.
World Cup - Posts with this tag refer to, well, the 2006 World Cup, from the viewpoint of a bewildered, disappointed American.
