Thanks For Stopping By, Will!
Will Shortz has a couple of suggestions, made in comments:
Maybe we can all get in... and have a good tie breaker. Try to get your name in and hang up as quickly as possible so everyone has a chance. Or, not... depending on your sense of goodwill.
This has been fun though.
Is anyone working today? I mean real work.
Here's another comment...
It says to have your puzzles with you, could there be more than what was just uncovered at 1:00 PST?
It should be noted that the email reminder was sent around 20 minutes ago.

I'm not going to put it past them that they might have screwed up something else like they screwed up the PST/PDT thing. But the e-mail that says have your puzzles with you is the one directing you back to the location. When you answer the questions there, the resulting web page no longer says that. It says you've completed the final step.
But I have my puzzles with me anyway.
Is the person who posted comments really Will Shortz?
If he's Will Shortz, I'm Eugene T. Maleska. Make that Sam Lake.
Have you looked at the rules for the tie-breaker? Tomorrow, someone will call you between 11 am and 4 pm EDT to give you the location of the puzzle. Then you call back at 5 pm EDT with the answer. Why can't they do this in the evening?
I agree Banana - this is lame! Now I am going to have to take another day off work. : (
Banana,
That's hilarious. It's also their 3rd time zone and fourth time. Surely, the answer to the tiebreaker will involve calculating something in Mountain time, or the whole thing is a scam perpetuated by the mainstream culture on the rest of us midcontinental folk.
Well, to be honest the rules state the times in CDT and I converted them to my time zone. At any rate, assuming the tie-breaker doesn't start until after the call back time period, we just have an hour to solve what I'm hoping will be more impressive than what we did today.
I JUST GOT THROUGH!!! I WON!!!
just joking.
It can't be more impressive than today's challenge, because if there's a difficulty, how can they call some of us at 11:00 and others at 4:00?
That was good for a chuckle, earnest.
The tiebreaker puzzle probably won't be available until 3:00 Central. With email reminders at 3:08.
I got through too! (After hearing many 'circuits are busy' messages.) I had both the land and cell lines dialing, and it was the cell that went through. Now I can only hope there wasn't some sort of cellular 'Pfffffft' while I was recording the answer!
good point banana. they'll probably call everybody between those hours with the location of some web page we have to log on to, and the web page won't go live until 4 pm, so we'll all start at the same time regardless of the time of our reminder calls.
I got through and recorded my answers!
I agree with the earlier comments about the anticlimax that is about to occur...they'll just call me at work some time and I'll probably be in a meeting while one of you take the prize :(
haha, good one special k. just hope my phone reminder doesnt come at 3:08 :)
Did I make it? I got through at 1:05, did I make the 750? What do you think?
